Nothing wrong with plugging your own Book, Dirk. It's a good book and covers the basics. I've read Garr Reynolds' books and learned a lot from them. Although I consider the PresentationZen books less basic then your own book (actually, i see them as quite advanced already), they're all worth plugging.

I've never come to buy and read any of Nancy Duarte's material. Garr has some examples from Duarte in his books and they all look overly complex and seem to lack emotion, in my eyes. The Diagrammer stuff you can buy from their site confirms this, again, in my eyes.

Keep up the good work.

Ronald, thanks for the kind words :)

My ebook is nowhere near the level of Presentation Zen. I wrote it for a very specific audience (obviously), that would consider Garr's books "too esoteric" (I've had that discussion). So it's an attempt at If you read nothing else, at least read this, please. Hence the especially if you're more the impatient type of person in the article above. Then, if they're hooked, maybe get them to read PZ, too.

Funny that you should say Nancy's books lack emotion. On the one hand, I guess that's what makes them more attractive for the type of person who's into "content above all" and hard data. On the other hand, watching her talk and having attended some of her webinars, she does seem to be a very emotional person. Not sure what to make of that, but it's an interesting contrast.

I'm referring to Duarte's slide material, Dirk. I haven't seen Nancy in action, so i can't judge. Actually, i'm in the business of presenting content, especially technical stuff for financial people. Making slides emotional is a very difficult thing to accomplish, is my experience, especially when your corporate image library contains all the stuff you don't want to use.

Regarding your eBook, you're spot on, but i still liked the book. For those of us who haven't had the opportunity to read the PZ like of books, your book must be inviting to do so.
