So I went back to the venue on the next day - with no clear idea what to do about the noise. Fortunately, somebody had already intervened and the neighboring booth had turned its speakers away from the stage. It was still very loud, but not as infernal as on the previous day. And so I could concentrate on the content of my presentation (and on the lines that I had botched on the previous day).

With the open concept of this particular setup (people were coming and going all the time, and the presentation was only 20 minutes), it's hard to get some usable feedback from your audience. So I was relieved and amused when I was approached by a couple at our booth an hour or so later - they asked exactly those questions that I had addressed in my presentation. Which makes me think that the presentation (which they had missed) did serve a purpose and that it was worth the battle with the noise.
